Unlocked captures the unsparingly honest stories of formerly incarcerated men and women who participated in RTA’s prison arts program. The film offers a different model for criminal justice, emphasizing life skills that lead to success after prison. Accompanying Unlocked are ten additional videos that introduce us to more RTA alumni stories.
Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) helps people in prison develop critical life skills through the arts, modeling an approach to the justice system based on human dignity rather than punishment. RTA’s ongoing success is proof that restorative, cost effective programming works. Less than 5% of RTA members return to prison, compared to the national recidivism rate of 60%.
RTA models a justice system based on dignity and potential rather than punishment. Join us as we work to break the generational cycle of incarceration!
